September 2020 @ Catshill Middle School
DFE Update re: Face coverings and Catshill
Apologies if we had not made things as clear as we had hoped to.
We have worked throughout the summer with Worcestershire Children First, Public Health and Health & Safety as we plan for full reopening next week.
Our plans were all signed off but one of the aspects we always wanted to focus upon if given the opportunity, due to the nature of the building and the fact that we are a middle school with year groups 5,6,7 & 8 was the added safety option where pupils from different bubbles meet.
At Catshill this is accessing the toilet facilities and by nature of being a "middle deemed secondary school", facilitating pupils accessing specialist teaching areas in all year groups like children in a secondary school do.
We totally understand that children have not in some households, been wearing a face mask and the thought of doing this in a school may be daunting.
This is not mandatory in any year group. Many of you had contacted us over the summer asking if your child could wear a face mask and at that time the directive was no. This has since changed and if you feel that your child(ren) would benefit from wearing one for their health and well being then we are very happy to support this. Our staff have also been given this as an option as we endeavour to ensure the health & well being of our whole school community.,
At all times we have been striving and will continue to strive to make our school as safe as possible.
Finally, epraise is being updated over the coming days and should be active again we hope on Thursday.
We look forward to welcoming all pupils back next week. Year 5 on Wednesday and all other year groups on Thursday.
