Young Codebreakers Challenged to Decipher Hidden Messages
Young codebreakers from schools around Bromsgrove were challenged to decipher messages. Year 7 pupils from Catshill joined pupils from Parkside, St Johns, Alvechurch and Aston Fields to take part in the challenge that was hosted by North Bromsgrove High School.
After learning about a variety of different spooks codes, including the Pigpen Cipher, Morse Code, Semaphore and a Cipher Disk, the pupils were then challenged to break their own codes.
The event was organised following a recent trip by North pupils to Bletchley Park - the home of the Second World War code breaking huts and the Enigma machine that had such an impact on the outcome of World War 2.
